This statue of Garuda is made in the city of Patan in Nepal which is known for the quality of the work of its craftsmen.
 
It is made of brass and then covered with a partition of stones (turquoise and coral) which  are glued by hand to give the statues a beautiful appearance.
 
Garuda   is a fabulous bird-man of Hindu and then Buddhist mythology. It is the vahana, or mount, of the god Vishnu.
